Health Benefits of Fish Oil

Fish oil
Fish oil
Fish oil is a fish-sourced supplement that has been shown to aid heart health, among numerous other benefits.

Fish Oil

Fish oil is a dietary supplement that comes in both capsule and liquid form. As per research conducted by William E Connor from the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Clinical Nutrition, Oregon Health Sciences University, Portland, Fish oil provides the body with over 80% of the recommended daily intake of omega-3 fatty acids – eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), in particular. It is commonly taken to aid cardiovascular health, although it also has other potential health benefits. Taking Fish oil can be a good way to ensure that you are getting enough omega-3 acids into your daily diet, without having to eat fish!

Fish Oil Health Benefits

The omega-3 fatty acids found in Fish oil are thought to be vital for physical health. The potential health benefits of omega-3 fatty acids include:

Fish oil Maintain Cardiovascular Health

Fish oil maintains cardiovascular health in a number of ways. A study published in the Official Journal of the American Heart Association states that omega-3 helps to slow down the build-up of plaque in the arteries, fight against inflammation in the body, and help keep the blood vessels healthy. All these things help to lower the chances of heart attack, heart disease, and stroke.

Fish oil Break Down Fats

Omega-3 fatty acids like DHA and EPA in Fish oil help to break down triglycerides, which are fats in the body that can increase the risk of stroke and heart disease.

Fish oil Lowers Blood Pressure

The breakdown of triglycerides can help lower the body’s blood pressure, which in turn can reduce the risk of atherosclerosis, heart attack, and stroke.

Promoting Development

According to research by AP Simopolous, published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, consuming an equal balance of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids is critical for normal development and homeostasis.

Fish oil Ease Arthritis Symptoms

As omega-3 fatty acids help fight against inflammation in the body by suppressing inflammatory genes, it is thought that they may also help ease the symptoms of arthritis and related chronic diseases according to a study published by L.G. Darlington, Institute of Biomedical and Life Sciences, West Medical Building, University of Glasgow, Glasgow.

Fish oil Improves Brain Health

It has long been thought that omega-3 fatty acids play a role in maintaining optimum brain health by keeping up the DHA levels in the brain. Studies are still ongoing, but it is believed that DHA levels might affect our communication ability and our mood. Fish oil could, therefore, be a useful addition to prescribed anti-depressants in combating depression, as well as a brain-boosting supplement for people as they get older and are more susceptible to conditions like Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Fish oil Side Effects and Considerations

Despite all of the good things explained above, it is important to consider the potential side effects of taking Fish oil, including the following:

  • Fishy breath and taste
  • Nausea
  • Unsettled stomach
  • Loose bowel movements
Do not exceed the daily recommended amount of 3 grams of fish oil. Excessive levels of omega-3 fatty acids in the body can increase the risk of bleeding and might affect blood sugar levels. Do not take this supplement if you have any fish allergies and consult a medical professional before you take Fish oil if you are on any other medications. It is also worth considering the levels of mercury and other environmental toxins that are often present in fish such as Fish, so always acquire your Fish oil supplements from a reputable source.

5 Amazing Benefits of Drinking a gallon of water a day

drink a gallon of water a day
drink a gallon of water a day

Drinking a gallon of water a day can provide a number of impressive benefits to both physical and mental health, and it shouldn’t be too hard to do either! Benefits of drinking a gallon of water daily include lubrication of joints in the body, elimination of waste products & toxins, reduction in headaches, & mental alertness.

Why Drink A Gallon Of Water A Day?

Regular water intake is essential to the proper functioning of the human body. The average person’s body is composed of 60% water, and every cell contains some. Even so, many people don’t drink enough water on a daily basis and are therefore dehydrated. According to Dr. Barry M Popkin and Dr.  Kristen E. D’Anci’s research report published in the Nutrition Review-Journal, as many as 75% of Americans may suffer from chronic mild dehydration, symptoms of which can include headaches, exhaustion, muscle cramps, joint pain, lack of concentration, and anxiety.

Getting enough water every single day is important, but there are no strict guidelines as to how much you should drink. Some doctors recommend six to eight oz glasses a day at a minimum, while others say a daily intake of one ounce per pound of body weight is a good target. According to Jéquier E1 and Constant F, senior researchers at the Department of Physiology, University of Lausanne, Pully, Switzerland, sedentary people should take a daily fluid intake (from drinking water and other beverages) close to about 70–80%, while their daily food intake should not exceed more than 20–30%. Setting the goal of one gallon of water per day ensures that you will exceed these recommendations and prevent those unwanted symptoms of dehydration.

How to Drink A Gallon Of Water A Day?

drink a gallon of water a day
drink a gallon of water a day
Since drinking an entire gallon of H20 is more than what most people are used to, it is helpful to keep track of how much you drink every day. There are a few easy ways to do this.
  • Use a 16oz bottle – 8 16oz bottles equal 1 gallon of water, so if you drink from a 16oz bottle and fill it eight times a day, that will deliver the full gallon of water you want!
  • Use a gallon jug – Starting the day with a full gallon jug of water and drinking from it throughout the day will help ensure that you drink the full amount, and the physical presence of a large gallon will be a constant reminder to drink!
  • Track it with an app – There are even a few smartphone apps available to track daily water consumption.
  • When attempting to drink a gallon of water a day, it’s important to pace yourself and drink regularly throughout the day, rather than pounding 4-5 pints of water at the same time.

Benefits of Drinking a Gallon of Water a Day

While there are few scientific studies to prove it, plenty of anecdotal evidence suggests that drinking a gallon of water every day can provide many benefits.

Clearer Skin

Your complexion can improve, as well as the brightness and firmness of your skin. Some claim that wrinkles can also disappear, but this has not been shown to be definitively true. Dr. Lídia Palma, Dr. Liliana Tavares Marques, both Portuguese researchers,  published a report in the Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology Journal that states that higher water inputs in regular diet have the potential to positively impact normal skin physiology, in particular in those individuals with lower daily water consumption.

Detoxification and Kidney Health

drink a gallon of water a day
drink a gallon of water a day
The body uses water to flush itself out via the kidneys. Drinking a gallon of water a day ensures that your kidneys can properly function, which can help prevent kidney stones, according to a study published in Journal of the American Dietetic Association by researchers at the University of Washington.

Reduced Muscle and Joint Pain

Getting enough water is important in keeping joints and muscles loose and can help eliminate muscle cramps, especially during and after exercise.

Reduced Headaches

Mild headaches are a common indicator of dehydration so increasing water intake to a gallon per day will relieve such headaches, which can be exhausting over time. University of Oxford researchers published a report in the Journal of Evaluation in Clinical Practices that states that water intake is the most cost-effective, non-invasive and low-risk intervention to prevent or reduce headache pain

Mental Clarity

A major symptom of dehydration is reduced mental function. Drinking one whole gallon a day can improve concentration, mood, and even lower anxiety, which can, in turn, reduce chronic stress hormones and affect overall health in myriad ways, according to experts from the Research Institute of Child Nutrition in Dortmund, Germany.

Is i
t possible Drinking A Gallon Of Water A Day Too Much at once?
It is possible to drink too much water at once, but it would take the average adult many gallons a day to reach unsafe levels. During the first few days of drinking a gallon of water, some bloating may occur, but the body will adjust quickly. As with any new diet or exercise routine, it’s best to consult a medical professional before making any major long-term changes.

What is the best Cancer preventive Diet?

January 28, 2019 0

What is the best Cancer preventive Diet?

A meal comprising 2/3 or more of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and legumes and 1/3 or less of animal protein is an ideal cancer-preventive diet. This is according to The American Institute of Cancer Research (AICR), which has issued guidelines for the public for a diet that is likely to help prevent cancer. It has termed the diet “The New American Plate”. The New American Plate is a marked deviation from a typical American diet as it calls for substituting meat for plant-based foods.

Cancer preventive Diet
Cancer preventive Diet

Cancer Preventive Diet

According to The American Institute of Cancer Research, the cancer-preventive diet, or The New American Plate, is not a diet, but instead, it is a new way of looking at choosing the foods you consume every day. To prevent chronic diseases as well as cancer, it is best to take a hard look at what foods make it to your plate in every meal. The best way to make a healthy plate is to aim for the following:
  • 2/3 of the plate should be fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and legumes
  • 1/3 of the plate should be animal protein
It further states that animal protein can be lesser than the 1/3rd amount and can be replaced by plant-based foods.

Portion Size

While The New American Plate talks about the proportion of food groups, it does not give portion sizes. It instead recommends referring to the USDA standard proportion sizes. So for instance, according to the USDA, a 2000-calorie diet includes:
  • 2 cups of fresh fruit
  • 2 1/2 cups of vegetables
  • 6 ounces of grain (preferably whole grain)
  • 5 1/2 ounces of protein (this includes seafood, poultry, lean meat, eggs, soy products, unsalted nuts, and seeds)
While The New American Plate does not mention dairy, the USDA recommends 3 cups of low-fat dairy options of milk or yogurt.

Strategies for Cancer Prevention

Cancer preventive Diet
Cancer preventive Diet

The strategy for cancer prevention is fairly simple, according to the American Institute of Cancer Research. The three simple steps as stated are:

  • Eat mostly plant-based foods, which are low in energy density
  • Be physically active
  • Maintain a healthy weight (by following the cancer-preventive diet with portion control and exercising)

Physically Active

While the cancer preventive diet plan is clearly given in The American Plate, it does not state the guidelines for exercising. Instead, it says to follow the exercise plan according to The Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans. In order to avoid chronic diseases, adults need at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity physical exercise per week. They will also benefit from muscle-strengthening exercise on 2 or more days each week. Younger people, from the age of 6 to 17, need at least 60 minutes of aerobic activity, including aerobic, bone strengthening, and muscle strengthening activity.

If you follow the simple “The New American Plate” program, it is possible to prevent diseases like cancer and live a healthy, happy life.

What is Calcium Deficiency? Calcium intake Per Day, Calcium Deficiency Symptoms.

January 26, 2019 0

Avoid calcium deficiency

Calcium is an important mineral for our body. Our body uses calcium to strengthen bones and teeth. Calcium is very important for our heart and the second muscle to work properly. When we do not take the right amount of calcium, then there is a problem like Osteoporosis, Osteopenia, and Hypocalcemia. If you do not get the right amount of calcium in childhood, then the children's height growth can also stop.

Calcium Deficiency
Calcium Deficiency

What is Calcium Deficiency?

To provide calcium, it is very important for you to take the right amount of calcium so that you can use calcium foods, supplements, and vitamins supplements.

Hypocalcemia (Reason Of Calcium

As the age increases, the calcium problem arises. There are many reasons for this that cause Hypocalcemia.

• It may be due to taking calcium less in your childhood.

• Reduces calcium absorption due to medicines.

• Foods with low calcium intake

• Because of the change of the hormone, in most women

• Due to some genetic factors

It is very important that you take the right calcium intake at every age.

Children and adolescents should take calcium in the right amount during the day so they do not have a problem like Hypocalcemia. For this, NIH has created a table in which the amount of calcium consumed every day according to age has been told.

Calcium Amount Per Day

9-18 Years 1,300 Mg

4-8 Years 1,000 Mg

1-3 Years 700 Mg

7-12 Months 260 Mg

0-6 Months 200 Mg

And calcium intake for older people

Calcium Amount Per Day

Women, 71 Years and Above 1,200 Mg

Women, 51-70 years 1,200 mg

Women, 31-50 years 1,000 mg

Women, 19-30 Years 1,000 Mg

Man, 71 Years and above, 1,200 Mg

Man, 51-70 Years 1,000 Mg

Man, 31-50 Years 1,000 Mg

Man, 19-30 Years 1,000 Mg

Whether it is male or female, you must increase your calcium intake. Completing the requirement of calcium is particularly important because a woman reaches menopause.

The woman should increase the amount of calcium in menopause because it reduces the chances of getting diseases such as osteoporosis and hypocalcemia. When estrogen hormone is reduced during menopause, the bones start becoming weak and thin quickly.

Hormone Disorder Hypoparathyroidism can also cause calcium deficiency. When our body does not correctly form parathyroid hormone, then our blood is not in the level of control of calcium.

Apart from this, due to poor nutrition and low absorption, Hypocalcemia can also occur. In less absorption, our body can not properly absorb vitamins and minerals, due to which it can be a problem. And there are many other reasons like: -

• There is a problem in calcium absorbing due to the lack of vitamin D.

• Pancreatitis

• Hypermagnesemia and Hypomagnesemia

• Hyperphosphatemia

• Septic Shock

• Massive Blood Transfusion (MBT)

• Kidney Failure

Calcium deficiency does not occur in one day when you do not take regular calcium value in your diet, it can lead to calcium deficiency. You have to be careful that you take the right amount of calcium daily so that it can absorb quickly as soon as possible in the body. The full vegetarian diet is mostly due to calcium deficiency because it does not use calcium-rich foods.

Calcium deficiency does not occur either nor does it detect its symptoms as the body also caters to our body by taking calcium from the bones. Due to a shortage of calcium due to prolonged time, it can have fatal effects.

Calcium Deficiency
Calcium Deficiency

Symptoms of Hypocalcemia (Calcium

Deficiency Symptoms)

It is difficult to identify the initial symptoms of calcium deficiency. As the decrease in calcium increases, some of these symptoms are seen as: -

• Muscle spasms

• Lose confusion and memory

• numbness and tingling in hands, feet, and face

• Tension

• Falter and brittle nails to be confused

• Bone fracture

Due to the lack of calcium, it affects the entire body such as weak nails, low growth of hair, and thin skin such symptoms can be seen.

Calcium plays an important role in releasing Muscle Contraction and Neurotransmitter. When there is a lack of calcium in the body, due to this you may have difficulty doing many types of work.

If you have problems like memory loss, muscle cramp, and numbness in the foot, you can go straight to the doctor.

How to recognize calcium deficiency? (How

to Know, you are Calcium deficient)

If you look at the above-mentioned symptoms then you should talk to the Direct Doctor. The doctor can start the treatment of calcium deficiency from your test and medical history.

Due to the lack of calcium, the doctor checks the blood samples to see the amount of calcium in the blood. It is about 300-400 rupees in test India. There are two tests for this, in which calcium level and albumin level are tested. Albumin is a protein that binds calcium with blood. Hypocalcemia can be caused by continuous low calcium value in the blood.

The normal calcium level in the body of a normal person is 8.8 to 10.4 mg/dl. If your calcium level is lower than 8.8mg / dl you may be deficient in calcium. Calcium levels in children and adolescents are almost the same.

What is Neonatal Hypocalcemia? (What

Neonatal Hypocalcemia)

Neonatal Hypocalcemia is seen in the newborn after birth. It is mostly within 2 days of birth. But Hypocalcemia can be 3 days after birth and after that.

Because of this, there may be a problem of Maternal Diabetes and short stature. Hypocalcemia children can have cow's milk and more phosphate cheeses.

Neonatal Hypocalcemia Symptoms (Neonatal Hypocalcemia

• Nervousness

• poor feeding

• breathing slowly

• Heartbeats

After the test, it is known how much calcium value is in the blood of the child and how much Ionized Calcium Level is. Along with this, the glucose level of the child is also checked.

Oral Calcium Gluconate is given to the child for its treatment.

How to fix calcium deficiency?  (How To

Treat Calcium Deficiency)

It is very easy to fix calcium deficiency. To correct this, you have to eat calcium-rich food in your diet.

If you want to use a calcium supplement then you have to talk to the doctor because you can have kidney stones due to high calcium dose.

Supplements that can fulfill calcium

• Calcium Carbonate, it is a cheap supplement and contains good calcium content.
• Calcium Citrate, it can be easily absorbed.
• Calcium Phosphate, it also absorbs easily and does not cause constipation.

Calcium supplements will be found in Liquid, Tablet, and Chewable all three forms.

Many times our diet and supplements cannot cure our calcium deficiency, then at that time, you will need to talk to the doctor to complete the calcium deficiency and take regular calcium injections so that your calcium level is cured.

You will begin to feel the symptoms of calcium deficiency within 1 to 3 months and after starting treatment, you will begin to feel the difference after 1 week.

What is the damage from hypocalcemia? (What are the damages of Calcium Deficiency to the body)

Hypocalcemia i.e., lack of calcium, you may have problems with the eyes, having a high heartbeat, and osteoporosis.

With osteoporosis, you may have problems with Disability, Spinal Fractures, and other Bone Fractures, and walking around.

How to avoid calcium deficiency? (How To

Prevent Calcium Deficiency I)

If you keep the right amount of calcium in your diet, then you can avoid the diseases that occur.

Do not let high calcium food in high quantity as they contain too much quantity of saturated fat and trans fat. With reduced fat and fat-free food, you can avoid high cholesterol and heart-related problems.

To serve calcium, you can add serving milk and a serving yogurt to the diet.
Knowing how much a normal man should take calcium in a day is just as important as knowing the value of the protein.

• 2,000 Mg for a male in one day and for a woman above 51 years
• 2,500 Mg in a day for men and woman whose age is between 19 to 50 years.

You can also add a multivitamin to your diet for this. But you must first talk to the doctor to meet the lack of calcium.

Multivitamin does not contain only calcium, but you get more vitamins and minerals which support your health.

Vitamin D
Vitamin D boosts the calcium absorb capacity in our blood.
When you increase calcium intake in your diet, you have to add vitamin D to the diet rich in your diet.

• Orange Juice
• Milk
• Mushrooms
• Eggs

After a sunburn, the production of Vitamin D in our body is triggered. That's why the regular should sit in the sun for a while.

Change Lifestyle

To maintain the value of Calcium and Vitamin D, you have to make some changes in your life so that your Bone Health can be improved and you can avoid calcium deficiency diseases. For this, you have to maintain your weight, regular exercise, tobacco and alcohol consumption must be stopped. Alcohol and tobacco have a very bad effect on your bones.
